Pre-Kindergarten is for four year olds who will be attending Kindergarten the following fall. We use a developmentally appropriate approach to give the children the skills they will need to be successful in a kindergarten classroom. The children use the Handwriting Without Tears program to learn handwriting and letter recognition.
Transitional Kindergarten is designed to meet the needs of advanced four year olds, and developmentally young five year olds. This class offers an extra year for children to acquire the maturity, learning habits, fine motor development, and attention span needed to succeed in school. Transitional Kindergarten continues to use Handwriting Without Tears for more in-depth letter formation.
Through weekly themes we emphasize math, science, and literacy, using both large and small group activities throughout the day. The children develop independence to address personal needs as well as receive encouragement to make and maintain friendships within the classroom.
