Davidson Preschool Handbook

1. Enrollment

Enrollment Deposit consists of One Months’ Tuition and will be credited to the first month of preschool. An Application Fee of $50 is for first time students enrolled at Davidson Preschool. Tuition and Application fees are non-refundable.

Student & Sibling enrollment will begin in February. Priority is given to current students and siblings of current students. Open Enrollment will be in March, and is open to the public.

*15% sibling discount.


2. Entrance Requirements/ Immunizations

Child must be of classroom age by August 31st. (ages 2-5 years old)

North Carolina state law requires each Student to provide:

  • Immunization Records (from Physician)
  • Medical Report (from Physician)


3. Tuition

Tuition is due on the 1st of the month with a 10-day grace period. There will be a $10 Late Charge fee for payments received after the 10th of the month. There will be a $30 fee for all returned checks, and must be taken care of immediately. Termination will result if failure to keep financial commitment.


4. Hours

*Prompt Arrivals and Departures are expected

Beginning Preschool (2 year olds)


Advanced Preschool (3 year olds)


Pre-Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten (4-5 year olds)


*Breakfast Club begins at 8:00-8:50am, and costs $3


5. Absences and Illness

If you know your child will be absent or late, please notify the Preschool.

Please do not bring your child to preschool if they have had a fever over 100 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, sore throat , or other signs of illness within a 24 hour period. Your child must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to preschool. Report any communicable illnesses so we may notify other parents as needed. If your child becomes sick at preschool or has been left sick with us, we will call you to come and pick up your child. Missed days may not be made up.


6. Inclement Weather

Davidson Preschool will make a decision by 6:30am. If there is a delay, Davidson Preschool will open at 10am. We will not have Breakfast Club. Safety is most important, so please use discretion as travel can be hazardous and varies all over the county areas.

For closings and delays:

  1. You will receive an email from the preschool.
  2. Watch FOX8 or WXII12.


7. Transportation and Drop-Off/ Pick-Up

It is the parent’s responsibility to arrange for transportation to and from preschool. Please advise the preschool if your child will be dropped off or picked up by someone else. You may use the breezeway to drop-off and pick-up your child. Our teachers and assistants will be there to assist with getting your child in and out of the car. Breezeway directions will be provided for you. Drop-off is at 8:50-9am. Doors are locked from 9:10am-11:50am.


8. Emergency Procedures

The Staff of Davidson Preschool will keep a file indicating how to get in touch with parents/guardians and the name of the child’s physician in case of an emergency. Current parent home and work phone numbers must be in each child’s file. If you have any changes to your address, phone numbers, or child’s medical history please notify the Director immediately for this information to be updated.


9. Conferences and Parent Meetings

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be conducted in February to discuss your child’s progress and needs. A sign-up sheet will be provided with available time slots. Please make arrangements for child care as this is for parents only. Additional parent meetings are available upon request.


10. Messages

You can contact the Preschool with a written note, calling (336) 224-0370, or email dpreschool@gmail.com. Your concerns will be addressed within 24 hours.


11. Newsletters

Monthly Newsletters will be distributed at the beginning of the month, and will include special reminders. These will also be available in the communication school bus at the entrance of the school, and e-mailed home.


12. Attire

Children should come to Preschool in comfortable, washable and appropriate for weather clothing. Shoes must be worn everyday and while at school. Children that are potty training should not wear belts or other complicated clothing.


13. Backpacks

Children should bring a backpack to Preschool everyday so that they may transport items to and from school. Place a change of clothes into a zip-lock bag to be kept in their backpack. Also if your child is potty training, diapers or pull-ups are necessary. Please label all items.


14. Bringing Things to School

Please do not send toys with your child to preschool. Comfort Items must fit and stay in their cubby during school hours. Items brought to preschool to be shared as a learning experience are Welcome.


15. Food and Celebrations

Students have snacks daily around 10:30am. Please let the Preschool know of any food allergies, or dietary concerns. Parents are asked to help by donating items; sign-up sheets are in your child’s classroom. If you would like to provide a “Special Snack” for a Birthday, please make arrangements with your child’s teacher For Holiday Celebration Planning, we encourage parents to assist in these special occasions. There will be a sign-up sheet in your child’s classroom, and the Teacher will let you know what is needed for the celebration.


16. Graduation

Davidson Preschool Graduation Ceremonies will be held at the end of the school year in May. We will be recognizing the accomplishments of the students who have completed their Preschool experience at Davidson Preschool and will go onto Kindergarten in the fall. All Preschool Students and families are invited to share in this special Preschool Milestone.
